6 steps: (1) Simple present = things that happen regularly or are always true. 'The sun rises in the east.' (2) For I/you/we/they: use the BASE form: 'I walk. They play.' (3) For he/she/it: ADD -s or -es: 'He walks. She plays.' (4) Spelling rules: add -es after s, sh, ch, x, o: 'He watches. She goes
