8 steps: (1) FIRST PERSON: narrator is a character. Uses 'I', 'me', 'my'. You see only what they see/think. (2) Example: 'I walked into the room and saw everyone staring at me.' (3) SECOND PERSON: talks to YOU the reader. Uses 'you'. Rare in fiction. (4) Example: 'You open the door and step inside.'
