3 steps: (1) ALLITERATION: repetition of the BEGINNING consonant sound. 'Peter Piper picked peppers.' 'Big bad bear.' The repeated P and B sounds create rhythm. Used in ads, poetry, headlines. (2) ASSONANCE: repetition of VOWEL sounds inside words. 'The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.' (rep
